Alicia Byer is a Los Angeles–based composer and improviser whose music treats attention and musical perception as sacred resources. She holds a degree in Music Composition from Mills College, where she studied with Pauline Oliveros, Cecil Taylor, Meredith Monk, Fred Frith, and others.
Her work draws from American experimentalism, French and Japanese musical aesthetics, free improvisation, neuroaesthetics, and a deep engagement with Jewish mysticism and the California environment.
She writes both rhythmically vibrant works and spacious, time-focused chamber music. She aims to write music that shapes a listener’s experience of time with respect and gratitude.
“The quality of the fabric is so soft and natural. You can tell how unique each piece is and that makes every item she sells even more special.”
